Greetings..
I've a little torn between two masters program.
One is Boston University's program(buonlinemasters.com) and
Capella's Masters in Infosec.
Both seem like the have good classes, and good professors.
Boston is really expensive: 27k, capella:17k.
What is nice about capella is if you pass your cissp
you can elect out of all 5 courses and you just have to take the ms core courses.
Any suggestions on which would you pick?
background on me: 7+ yrs in it, currently working for a govt agency,3800users,ad,nds,email,etc...

I have no idea of how their degree programs are viewed by the public. However, I do know that I will never again go to a school based on how much the degree program costs. As long as the reputation is not negative, I'll attend. It has been my experience that most degree programs are only as good as the effort you put into them. Therefore, if Capella's rep is halfway decent, I'd go there.

I plan on going to Middle Tennessee State University for my Masters in Information Systems. It's not online, but it's only 10K, even after I've taken some undergrad prerequisite courses.

Got any quick links to those degree programs?

Thanks Mike for your feedback.
General feedback is that people in i.t. know already capella since they give credit for people who have certs(mcse,cissp,etc..)
I think most people know boston university from the name.
Both schools are regionally accred,so they are both legit.
There is a local school but I really need a online schedule because of my schedule.

I’ve learned just because a school is accredited, doesn't mean your going to get a quality education. Talk to students that have attended both schools and programs. See if your degree is going to mean anything with your current employer. There a lot of hiring managers that put an * by degree’s form online institution like DeVry, University of Phoenix, and Capella. I took classes at DeVry University (Accredited School), and wasn’t really impressed with the professors or the curriculum. So I’ve started looking at going to a state university.

Thanks for the feedback manderson.
I agree about the accredition. I actually got my BS in IS from University of Phoenix and started in 99 completed in 02. In the beginning, teachers and skillset were great. But
at the end,the teachers weren't great.
I'm leaning a little towards Boston University but 26k,ouch!!!
Boston's professors and classes seems to be better quality than capella.

That's definitely valid point. Price should be an important
Factor. I'm a little surprised that Capella was so low!

Anyways...here's another way of looking at this. If you’re a Hiring Manager looking at your resume. Which school will look better? If the answer is Boston University than the higher coast should be worth it, if it’s Capella University than you'll be getting a good education for the money.

Thanks for your feedback.
I guess the issues is name recognition. When you get your bachelors, the name reg is not as important.
Even you want to pursue that caliber of education, you need to bring in the name with you. Hence, you need a name people know.
I think I'm going with Boston U.
Thanks for everyones feedback
